Cayman kids raise funds for dog charity
(CNS Local Life): Two young fundraisers from Cayman Prep and High School chose to spend some of their summer vacation raising money for a local animal charity, One Dog at a Time. Toni Wagner and Nina De Saram, both in Year 4 at the local school, decided to whip up some delicious cookies and other refreshments to sell to their neighbours and close friends.
Toni said, “We love dogs and we wanted to help our favourite charity by donating money to help pay for some vaccinations.”
Nina added, “We had a great time making everything to sell and we raised over $50, which is amazing as most products were 50c.”
Vice president of ODAAT, Caroline Johnston, welcomed the funds. “I was thrilled when the girls donated the money and told me that it was all their own idea to help us. We have lots of dogs and pups that need vaccines to guard against serious illnesses, such as parvovirus, which can be fatal.”
Support from the community is vital for charities such as One Dog at a Time to continue their work. If you would like to make a donation or find out how you can help, please like them on Facebook or email info@ODAAT.ky
