Visitors want to marry in Cayman
My daughter and her fiancé want to get married on Grand Cayman. How complicated is that to arrange and what do we have to do?
Auntie’s answer: It is actually not that complicated but you do need to plan ahead. In fact, tourists who come to these shores by cruise ship can even get married while the ship is in port and then be on their wedded way. All you need are the right documents.
You will have to get a non-residents marriage licence, which costs US$250, and a letter from the authorised marriage officer who will be officiating at the ceremony. You can get a list of officers available plus an application for a non-residents licence from the Passport and Corporate Services Office on Grand Cayman. Call (345) 943-7678 or email the office for more information.
There are a few other things you are required to provide including proof of citizenship and age, proof of marital status and two witnesses for the ceremony. I am guessing you and others will be sharing the couple’s big day, so that last point should not be a problem. Otherwise, the marriage officer can help with witnesses as well as direct you through the whole process.
