RCIPS sends third group of officers to BVI
(CNS Local Life): A third contingent of Royal Cayman Islands Police Service officers travelled to the British Virgin Islands on Thursday, 26 October, following the return of 16 officers earlier that day who had completed a three-week deployment to offer support in the wake of the destruction caused in BVI by Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
“The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service is happy to be able to offer this support to our sister territory as they work to maintain the law and order that has been restored in the wake of Hurricane Irma, and continue reconstruction on the islands,” said RCIPS Deputy Commissioner Kurt Walton, in a press release. “We have received nothing but positive feedback from the local police service and members of the community in BVI and are extremely proud of all our officers who eagerly volunteered to be part of these deployments.”
The third group of 16 officers will also be spending three weeks in the territory. This last deployment will mark the end of the RCIPS’ initial commitment to providing support to BVI. Over the next few weeks the situation in that territory will be assessed to determine if any additional deployments will be necessary, stated the press release.
