Nominations open for Stingray awards
(CNS Local): The Cayman Islands Tourism Association (CITA) is accepting nominations for the annual Stingray Tourism Awards, which recognise outstanding members of the tourism industry in a variety of categories. The theme for this year’s event is “The Magic of Tourism” in a nod to the collaborative efforts made to ensure a special stay for visitors to the Cayman Islands.
CITA said in a press release that it encourages member businesses to nominate staff for the award. “From back of house to front of house staff, everyone deserves to be recognised for their hard work and commitment to the job,” CITA said.
At the awards ceremony, set for Tuesday, 23 July, all nominees will receive certificates with the winners celebrated with cobalt-blue, hand-blown glass stingray awards. In addition to awards in the sectors of accommodations; watersports; restaurants; and allied, attractions and transportation, CITA members can nominate someone for the Rising Star Award, which is presented to a newcomer to the industry who shows promise in the field of tourism.
There is also the Diamond (Long Service) Award, presented to an industry veteran who has been working in hospitality for more than 20 years.
“It is the CITA’s honour to celebrate all those who faithfully contribute to tourism through their hard work and dedication,” said Ash McKnight, CITA board director and Stingray Awards committee chairperson. “Sometimes magic happens, and sometimes magic is made. In this case, it is a combination of both a magical place and people coming together to create experiences of a lifetime for all who grace our shores.”
Tickets for the event can be reserved through the CITA office (email info@cita.ky or call 949-8522) at $106 per person, or $975 for a table of ten.
