Second class of RCIPS recruits being trained
(CNS Local Life): A class of 12 women and 12 men is in the sixth week of initial training as Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) officers. The 24 local recruits comprising the second class of 2019 range in age from 19-41 and includes seven former auxiliary constables who are making the transition to police constable.
Nine members of the class are Caymanian; all the new recruits were sworn in on Monday, 3 June, in a ceremony led by members of the RCIPS Senior Command Team, stated a press release.
The recruits were chosen following a local recruitment drive which concluded last August. After satisfying minimum qualifications and passing a written exam, interview, fitness test and vetting, the candidates were offered places in the recruit class. Of that original group, 23 joined the initial class of 2019, and graduated to operational duty in May; the current group of 24 was chosen from the same pool.

Why do we keep doing the same thing and expect a different result? Why are J’cans always the majority when we should not even consider any more applicants from there including those with Status. Recruit in Barbados and other counties like we used to. More educated, more honest, more well mannered, less lawless, more willing to assimilate.
I don’t care who they are, what color they are, where they were born, how old they are or if they are male or female.
If they serve and protect the people of the Cayman Islands and uphold the laws honorably, they have my full support.
Maybe they will replace some of the old guard at RCIPS and raise the standard.
All the best to them.
Only 9 are Caymanian, no more local talent it seems.
400+ already on payroll and mgmt can’t even rustle-up a credible traffic deterrent.
Being trained to look the other way when it’s rich expatriates breaking the laws.
What an idiotic comment. Please do elaborate on it, if possible.
8.58am So rich Caymanians don’t get away with it, at least that’s something
