The Union Flag and Cayman Islands Flag flew at half-staff on all government buildings yesterday (Monday, 26 August 2019) to mourn the death of former legislator John McLean. Flags will fly at half-mast again from two days before his official funeral, details of which will be shared with the public once available.
Mr McLean, who died over the weekend, spent twenty-four years as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for the district of East End.
During that time he served three four-year terms as the Member of Executive Council with responsibility for agriculture and subject areas such as communications and works. This position is equivalent to what is known today as Cabinet Minister.
