Ice on Ice sparkles with record donation
(CNS Local Life): The eighth annual Ice on Ice fundraiser held last month raised more than $17,000 for the Cayman Islands Cancer Society (CICS), a record amount for the event. All of the proceeds from ticket sales and games at the casino and cocktails affair benefitted CICS.
Women’s run empowers Crisis Centre
(CNS Local Life): The inaugural Women’s Empowerment 5K run, held Sunday, 10 June, raised $1,000 for the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre (CICC), a non-profit providing support and shelter to victims of domestic abuse. Patricia Muschette and Celia Hydes, members of the group Powerful Runners established the event.

Kanuga notches another ultramarathon
(CNS Local Life): Ultramarathoner Kerri Kanuga, representing the Cayman Islands, finished first in the masters age group and fourth among female athletes at the 11th annual Keys 100, held 19-20 May 2018 in the Florida Keys. Out of the 175 athletes who started the race, 143 finished the course.
CharityDrive gears up for seventh year
(CNS Local Life): The seventh annual Island Heritage CharityDrive will run from Tuesday, 29 May through Thursday, 31 May, with three charities vying to earn a share of the insurance company’s $35,000 donation. The charities selected for this year’s drive are the Special Needs Foundation, the Family Resource Centre and Central Caribbean Marine Institute.

DG’s 5K Challenge to benefit five good causes
(CNS Local Life): The Deputy Governor’s 5K Challenge is celebrating its fifth anniversary by selecting five good causes to benefit from the 2018 event, which takes place in April. To mark the five-year milestone, the walk/run will also be held in Little Cayman for the first time, in addition to Cayman Brac and Grand Cayman.
