CCMI makes waves with coral research

Attorney recognised for volunteer work
(CNS): Attorney Benjamin Woolf has received the Lee A. Freeman award for volunteering his legal services to the local community, as part of the Family Resource Centre’s (FRC) Legal Befrienders clinic. FRC programme coordinator Miriam Foster explained the award is named in honour of a much-valued volunteer.
Community comes out to boost DG’s charity event
(CNS): Walkers and runners turned out in force Sunday, 24 April, for the 2016 Deputy Governor’s 5K Challenge, raising money to help Cayman Heart Fund buy a new ambulance. The early-morning charity challenge attracted more than 1,000 registered participants and a large crowd of cheering well-wishers.
Youth Flex completes 39th season on air

Community answers call to recycle phone books
(CNS): Through this year’s “Yellow2Green” recycling programme, held for four weeks over February and March, people all across Cayman collected and handed in more than 21,000 used telephone directories. Since the initiative began more than five years ago, more than 170,000 directories have been recycled, keeping them out of the George Town landfill.
Caymanian lawyer admitted to the Bar
(CNS): Paul Ebanks, an associate in Ogier’s investment funds and corporate practice, has been admitted to the Cayman Islands Bar. Ebanks, who joined Ogier in 2014 as an articled clerk and completed his legal training with the firm, has trained in the UK, Cayman Islands and the US.

Brackers support DG’s 5K Challenge
(CNS): The Cayman Brac community turned out in force on Sunday, 17 April, to raise money for the 2016 Deputy Governor’s 5K Challenge. Walkers and runners converged on Cayman Brac Museum in the early morning for the route which took the 168 participants to the Catboat Plaza and back.
