(CNS): The Cayman Islands has a new national hero, Dr Roy Edison McTaggart, who joins the ranks of eight previous honourees, including the only living recipient, Sybil McLaughlin. The posthumous award was announced Monday, 25 January, as part of the annual National Heroes Day celebrations, which focused on honouring those who have contributed to agriculture.
Government to name new national hero
(CNS): A new national hero is expected to be named as part of National Heroes Day celebrations honouring pioneers of agriculture, set for Monday, 25 January. In all, more than 320 awards will be presented in the categories of early pioneer, pioneer, emerging pioneer, memorial scroll and long service.
Heroes Day insignia pays homage to agriculture
(CNS): The Protocol Office has unveiled the design for the 2016 National Heroes Day commemorative insignia, which this year symbolises the significance of agriculture to the Cayman Islands. Each year a new insignia is created to reflect the changing theme of the event, which takes place Monday, 25 January.
