Getting to the heart of the matter
(CNS): The Cayman Heart Fund (CHF) is holding its first health expo at Camana Bay on Saturday, 26 September from 2pm-8pm. The event, to mark World Heart Day, will educate both adults and children about food nutrition and living a heart-healthy lifestyle, while also raising funds for a new ambulance for the Health Services Authority.
The expo will include live music and entertainment, healthy snacks and local art.
The CHF will run an interactive booth about World Heart Day. In addition, Health City Cayman Islands will be providing free health screenings for all children and doctors from that facility as well as from Helix Healthcare will be available to answer any questions about how to maintain a heart-healthy lifestyle.
Get Active Cayman will also take part, teaching children about being healthy through games, crafts and activities.
Cayman Food Revolution will offer hands-on cooking demonstrations to teach families about the basic principles of cooking healthy foods and how to prepare delicious, healthy snacks at home.
Purple Dragon karate, Nurse & Co Zumba and the Centre Point Dance Studio will be providing live entertainment and fitness-class demonstrations throughout the day to show kids that being healthy and active can also be fun and sociable. Local businesses, including Smile Dental Clinic and Cayman National Bank, will have their own booths displaying their efforts to promote heart health on island.
Children will also get to enjoy outside activities such as face painting, a bouncy castle, fun pictures and crafts. Every ticket purchased includes a CI$10 discount at Craft Food & Beverage Co, plus the opportunity to win various prizes and gift certificates from vendors including spas, restaurants, cosmetic stores and local gyms.
To purchase tickets, which cost CI$25 for adults and CI$10 for children, contact Caroline Rodrigues at 916-6324 or email the CHF
