Time to sign up for the DG’s 5K Challenge
(CNS): Registration for this year’s Deputy Governor’s 5K Challenge is set to open next week. In Grand Cayman, participants can sign up at the Government Administration Building (GAB) on 7, 8, 14 and 15 April from 10am to 3pm as well as 21 and 22 April from 9am to 4 pm.
Nominations sought for 2016 YCLA nod
(CNS): Nominations for the Young Caymanian Leadership Awards (YCLA) are now open for 2016. The YCLA, now in its 16th year, was created to identify and honour young leaders who serve as role models for the youth of Cayman. Nominations may be made by any organisation, business or individual in the community.
Cayman dive company trains US freedivers
(CNS): Divetech and the Lighthouse Point resort recently hosted a week-long training camp for US freedivers. Followers of this sport hold their breath until resurfacing rather than using scuba gear, saying they enjoy being in the water in its purest form and in total freedom.
Artwork added to permanent National Gallery collection
(CNS): The National Gallery of the Cayman Islands (NGCI) has recently acquired two works of art, courtesy of Atlantic Star Ltd. The two pieces, by Maureen Andersen-Berry and Bendel Hydes, will join the National Gallery’s ever-growing permanent collection of more than 200 works of art.
