CUC takes Sunrise clients to the movies
(CNS Local Life): Volunteers from Caribbean Utilities Company (CUC) and members of the Sunrise Adult Training Centre came together for their annual summer movie outing at the Camana Bay Cinema on Tuesday, 17 July. Volunteers and interns from CUC’s community involvement team got the opportunity to interact, and further develop relationships, with members of the centre.
This year, the Sunrise clients were treated to the blockbuster film Jurassic World. As a bonus, CUC volunteers provided popcorn and soda to the moviegoers. Recreation coordinator Donna Wilson has been with Sunrise for the past 10 years and along with other staff members assisted with planning the recreational programme for July.
“Staff and clients look forward to CUC’s involvement with the centre every year,” she said in a press release, thanking CUC for sponsoring the outing. “The clients wanted to see this movie so we were happy to have the event sponsored by our long-term partner CUC.
“We are also pleased that the company provides the opportunity for their summer interns. This allows them to feel that they can be involved in the community and events like these teach them the importance of giving back and lending a helping hand from an early age.”
Sunrise encourages other local organisations to provide support and spread awareness of the centre, the press release said.
In November, CUC will host its annual Thanksgiving lunch for clients of the centre.
