UWI officials visit Cayman
(CNS Local Life): Pro Vice Chancellor (PVC) and Principal of the University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus, Dr Luz Longsworth, recently made an official visit to the Cayman Islands, the first in her current position. During the 29 November-1 December trip, she met with Cayman government and education representatives.
Longsworth was accompanied by the Director of Open Campus Country Sites, Dr Francis Severin, with Manager for the UWI Open Campus British Overseas Territories, Dr Phyllis Fleming-Banks also taking part, stated a press release.
During the visit, the UWI officials met then acting Minister of Education, Councillor Barbara Conolly, Acting Chief Officer Cetonya Cacho and Acting Deputy Chief Officer/Senior Policy Advisor Philip Scott.
Longsworth and her team also paid a courtesy call on incoming President of the University College of the Cayman Islands, Dr Stacy McAfee, and Vice President/Provost, Dr Livingston Smith. They also met and held discussions with a cross-section of local UWI alumni, as well as faculty, students and other stakeholders, the release said.
Longsworth and her team also spoke about the various activities marking UWI’s 70th anniversary.
