GT Sports Club offers free football camps
(CNS Local Life): George Town Sports Club (GTSC), in association with the Cayman Islands Football Association (CIFA), will be hosting free summer youth football camps from Monday, 7 August to Friday, 11 August, for girls and boys 5 to 12 years old, at the CIFA Centre of Excellence on Poindexter Road in Prospect.
The boys camps will take place on 7, 9 and 11 August with sessions for ages 5 to 8 from 8:30am to 10am and ages 9 to 12 from 10am to 11:30am. The girls camps will be held 8 and 10 August with sessions for ages 5 to 8 from 8:30am to 10am and ages 9 to 12 from 10am to 11:30am.
Players and coaches from Covenant College, who are conducting the camps, will be visiting Grand Cayman between 2 and 13 August as part of a pre-season training camp in preparation for their 2017/2018 college season. The college, located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, is a National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III, four-year institution.
Forms can be completed and submitted on the mornings of the camps at the centre, with sign-in beginning at 7:45am and 9:45am, respectively. Organisers will be at the field from 7:30am until 12:30pm, with parents asked to drop off their children after 7:30am and collect them by noon. Campers should come properly dressed for football practice in shirts, shorts, socks and sneakers/football boots. Water, Gatorade and ice will be provided.
This will be the second time that GTSC has hosted Covenant College for their pre-season training camp, the first being in August 2012.
During the 12-day visit, Covenant College will also be playing a number of practice games against local opposition including the Cayman Islands Under 20 National Team, GTSC, Academy Sports Club and a Premier League select team.
