Law school offers master’s degree for international students
(CNS Local Life): After two years, and with the first graduation under the programme set for later this year, the LLM-Master of Laws in International Finance degree course at Truman Bodden Law School (TBLS) is opening fulltime and now available to students from overseas, in addition to Caymanian nationals and local residents. The deadline for applications is 30 August to enter the degree programme in September 2019.
LLM course leader Laura Panadès said the programme “is expected to enhance the Cayman Islands reputation as a global financial educational centre. It will build a solid legal community, allowing the strengths of international, local and Caymanian students to flourish while working together.”
The course tackles selected areas of the law, providing advanced knowledge of legal rules affecting international finance, anti-money laundering, conflict of laws and public-private partnerships, said a TBLS press release.
The LLM is offered in partnership with the University of Liverpool. Upon graduation, students will enjoy all the benefits of graduating from a leading UK higher education institution having worked towards their degree locally.
Full-time students, including those from overseas, will complete the programme in one year. Part-time study requires degree completion in two years and is open to Caymanian nationals and local residents only.
Mitchell Davies, TBLS director, said the full-time programme “is a welcome development that showcases the law school’s quality locally and internationally. The full-time launch is made possible due to the commitment and dedication of our excellent teaching staff.”
