Florence Allan racing on day two
(CNS): As one of lightest sailors in the competition, Cayman’s Florence Allen had another challenging day Tuesday in Rio as she ended the women’s laser races in 35th place. Although she improved her ranking in the first race of the day where she was passing other competitors, she fell back again in the second race as she struggled against a quality fleet and changeable conditions on the water.
Despite the challenges, Allan said she is learning a lot during her Olympic experience.
The 18 year old will back on the water at Copacabana today, 10 August, for the open-ocean course, which she expects to be the most difficult challenge yet.
One of the female Belgian competitors is sick as a dog from sailing in that nasty water (see link below).

Like I said before… We shouldn’t have sent our athletes to that cesspool of a country!
Not sure you understand why we send Caymans chosen athletes to compete , it goes further than just the event , they are representing The Cayman Islands on the worlds largest stage , as our representatives. Only one is sailing , the others are swimming and we have track & field events to compete in . Good luck to all of them in their efforts , regardless of winning or losing.
The results for Florence in races 5 & 6 are shown as ‘DNF’ ( did not finish) on the Olympics official results webpage , for the women’s laser radial sailing event.
