Governor hosts World Red Cross Day event
(CNS Local Life): Cayman Islands Red Cross (CIRC) volunteers and partners gathered at the governor’s residence for a celebration of World Red Cross Day on 8 May. Governor Anwar Choudhury welcomed the 123 attendees, as he recognised the importance of the work that they do every day.
Angela Sealey appointed NCVO CEO
(CNS Local Life): Angela Sealey has been named the new chief executive officer of the National Council of Voluntary Organisations (NCVO). With a background in social work, Sealey has spent many years working with special needs children, child abuse cases, drug and alcohol intervention and other issues facing at-risk youth.

CharityDrive gears up for seventh year
(CNS Local Life): The seventh annual Island Heritage CharityDrive will run from Tuesday, 29 May through Thursday, 31 May, with three charities vying to earn a share of the insurance company’s $35,000 donation. The charities selected for this year’s drive are the Special Needs Foundation, the Family Resource Centre and Central Caribbean Marine Institute.
Officer leads disabled parking sign campaign
(CNS Local Life): Representatives from the RCIPS, Dart Realty and the Lighthouse School met at Camana Bay Wednesday, 23 May, to unveil 10 new disabled parking signs which were designed and illustrated by students from the school as part of a joint project initiated by community officer PC Jonathan Kern.
