International Day of Families Contest
Today (Friday, 15 May 2020) is International Day of Families (IDF), an annual United Nations observation designed to promote family-related issues. To highlight the observance, the Family Resource Centre (FRC) is hosting an online “Us Together’ contest ending at midnight tonight.

Parenting help for families in isolation

Honouring Women Month gets ministry support
(CNS Local Life): Preparations for March’s Honouring Women Month (HWM) events have been boosted by a strategic alliance between the Ministry of Community Affairs’ Gender Affairs Unit (GAU) and the Family Resource Centre (FRC), along with a $9,000 contribution by the GAU to help stage various activities.
Attorney honoured for volunteering
(CNS Local Life): The Family Resource Centre (FRC) has selected specialist family attorney Hayley McCall as their 2018 Lee A. Freeman recipient. The award, for “selfless acts of time and dedication to the Legal Befrienders’ Programme,” is named after one of the service’s staunchest volunteers and has been presented annually since 2011.

Training is a SNAP for local educators
(CNS Local Life): A full day of Stop Now And Plan (SNAP) training was given to 25 educators from government schools at the Family Resource Centre (FRC) on Thursday, 18 October. In addition, two half-day SNAP sessions for 50 more teaching staff were held the following two days.
Lawyer honoured for giving back
(CNS Local Life): Civil litigation and family law attorney Pramod Joshi was recently given the 2017 Lee A. Freeman service award by the Family Resource Centre (FRC). Named in memory of an exceptional volunteer, the award is given annually in appreciation for selfless acts of time and dedication to the FRC’s Legal Befrienders Service.
