Students network with tourism professionals
(CNS Local Life): The Ministry and Department of Tourism recently hosted its annual tourism scholar networking reception, bringing together past, current and new recipients of scholarships. Students and graduates interacted with a variety of tourism partners including the Cayman Islands Tourism Association, Cayman Turtle Centre and accommodations-sector representatives. The event is designed to bring scholars together to acknowledge recent graduates, offer support to students just beginning their tertiary education and provide networking opportunities with tourism professionals.
Minister of Tourism Moses Kirkconnell; MLA Barbara Conolly, Councillor in the Ministry of Education; and Director of Tourism Rosa Harris all spoke at the event, offering advice and inspiration, and expressing excitement for the diversity of programmes in which the students participated, stated a press release.
Ophelia Manderson, this year’s graduate speaker, shared tips with the outbound students, encouraging them to embrace every opportunity their studies abroad allow and find a balance between schoolwork and personal growth opportunities.
The Ministry of Tourism has awarded more than 200 scholarships since establishing the scholarship programme in 1996.
