Actor awarded scholarship in pursuit of MFA
(CNS Local Life): Caymanian award-winning actor Rita Estevanovich has been named the recipient of a scholarship that she will use to help finance her studies for a master of fine arts (MFA) degree in the UK. Local company Nova awarded the second annual ‘Love Your Future’ $3,000 scholarship, presented to the applicant who demonstrates passion for a career in the arts and seeks further education and training in a related field.
Estevanovich said the scholarship will help her realise an ambition to complete advanced studies. “Pursuing my master’s has been a goal several years now, and receiving this award from Nova is really encouraging,” she told CNS. “I am looking forward to beginning my studies at Rose Bruford in London this fall. It’s all very exciting.”
She wants to develop her career in performing arts by seeking an MFA in actor performer training. In a press release, Nova said, “Her story truly inspired our team – she is extremely passionate to succeed and is looking to take her career further and build Cayman’s exposure in the performing arts field globally.
“She spoke so enthusiastically about using her creativity and inherent ability to captivate and tell stories, we are so excited for her future and to be supporting such a bright star in our community.”
Louise Reed, Nova client relationship and business development manager, noted that the recruitment company meets talented candidates daily who want to pursue additional qualifications but are stymied by the cost of further education.
“Our aim, along with our careers advice, online training and coaching, is to help Caymanians find the career path they are looking for in a role with long-term prospects,” she explained, adding the company wanted the “scholarship selection process to focus on the areas we know are vital to a successful career – drive, passion, integrity and self-reliance.
“Rita was an excellent example of these; right through from her application video to the end interview she was proactive and conscientious in every aspect. She impressed us with her motivation, planning and determination to succeed in her new career path. We are excited to share this journey with her.”
