Miss Teen hopefuls visit Cayman Brac
(CNS Local Life): The five contestants for Miss Teen Cayman Islands took part in the pageant’s annual Cayman Brac trip Saturday, 10 August to explore the local culture, as they did on Grand Cayman in July. Among the places visited were the Cayman Brac Museum, Skull Cave, Cayman Brac Lighthouse and National Trust Parrot Reserve.
The Miss Teen contestants are Ashley Gooden, Jada Bodden, Monina Thompson, Amelia Lamie and Sadé Parchment.
Noting it was her visit to the Brac, Lamie said, “I enjoyed every bit of it. I was amazed by the great sceneries they had and especially at the bluff; I’m a fan of heights so that was my favourite part of the trip.”
Bodden was particularly struck by the people. “Visiting Cayman Brac, I’ve learned how close of a community they are,” she said. “The locals radiate with Caymankind and thrive to keep their culture alive. The island itself is so tranquil and mesmerising and I hope to revisit soon.”
Next up on the agenda for the contestants is a motorcade on Saturday, 17 August, which will take the young women all around Grand Cayman with an 8:30am departure from the Lions Centre.
The Miss Teen Cayman Islands pageant is being held Saturday, 24 August, at the Lions Centre, with the gate opening at 5:30pm and the event starting at 7pm.
Tickets for the pageant – at $40 for premium, $25 for general and $15 for children – are available through committee members, contestants, Lorna’s Rubis Gas Station (Bodden Town), The Finishing Touch, Funky Tang’s and online at EventPro.
