September is Recovery Month
The Department of Counselling Services (DCS) is organising the following awareness raising radio appearances/events to mark National Recovery Month this September:
Monday, 2 September – Recovery Month Launch Table Talk Series (Radio Cayman 89.9FM), 1pm-2pm. Join the voices for recovery to learn about drug use trends in Cayman and what we can do.
Tuesday, 3 September – Recovery Month Table Talk Series (Star 92.7FM), 5pm-6pm. Listen and learn from substance abuse/recovery experts.
Wednesday, 4 September – Recovery Month Community Workshop, West Bay Community Centre, 6.30pm8pm. Learn about the process of addiction and how to get support, or to support someone in active addiction.
Friday, 6 September – Recovery Month TableTalk Series (Crosstalk 101.9FM), 8am-9am. Join the voices for recovery to learn about drug use trends in Cayman and what we can do.
Wednesday, 18 September – Talk Early, Talk Often: Drug Edition. Family Resource Centre, 2nd Floor Apollo House West, Mary St., George Town, 6pm-7.30pm. Learn how to talk to your children about drugs and alcohol. The workshop will provide parents with the skills and the age-appropriate language needed.
Wednesday, 25 September – Recovery Month Workshop, East End Community Centre, 6.30pm-8pm. Learn about the process of addiction and how to get support, or how to support someone in active addition.
Saturday, 28 September – Recovery Month Family Fun Day. Join the DCS at the Cayman Islands Turtle Centre for a FREE Family Fun Day, 10am-4pm. Pre-register for entry and complimentary buffet.
