DG’s 5K Challenge gets first donation for ambulance
(CNS): The 2016 Deputy Governor’s 5K Challenge has received its first donation which will go towards the $50,000 target set to help purchase a new ambulance for the Cayman Islands. The Cayman Heart Fund is running the ambulance appeal and has been raising money since last summer for the final goal of $150,000 for the vehicle, which will be used as a back-up to the emergency fleet. Silver sponsor Cayman National Bank donated $2,000.
“This is the first cheque we have received and we wholeheartedly thank Cayman National Bank for helping push this initiative along in support of the Cayman Heart Fund and its goal of acquiring a new ambulance,” said Deputy Governor Franz Manderson.
Last year’s gold sponsors Butterfield, EY and Appleby have again pledged $5,000 each, with one slot in this category still available.
This year there is also an exclusive new $15,000 platinum sponsorship available, which will be awarded to just one company or individual. Whoever signs up as the platinum sponsor is guaranteed the most prominent exposure on promotional materials for the event, which is being held in April.
Other sponsorship categories include silver for $2,000, for which there are a couple of remaining slots, and unlimited bronze for $500 each as well as gifts-in-kind such as certificates for prizes, and goods and services for the event.
The walk/run is suitable for all ages and fitness levels and is being held on Cayman Brac on Sunday, 17 April and on Grand Cayman on Sunday, 24 April, starting at 6:30am. Registration dates will be announced nearer the time.
