Credit Union awards $200,000 in education grants
(CNS Local Life): This year the Cayman Islands Civil Service Association (CICSA) Co-operative Credit Union has awarded $200,000 in education grants to 163 students in post-secondary education locally, overseas and online. The students are working to attain their A-Levels, tertiary degrees or professional certifications. Grant recipients are selected based on a variety of criteria including their academic record, character and academic references, area of study, and level of community involvement.
The annual education grant is offered to member-owners of the Credit Union to provide an opportunity for them to fulfil their education and career goals. Of this year’s recipients, 20 are studying locally, 115 overseas and 28 online.
Michael Nixon, chairman of the Credit Union’s board of directors, said the grant programme “exemplifies our core value proposition of ‘Members Helping Members’ and allows us to provide real help to students and their families assisting them to achieve their educational goals.”
