The YCLA, now in its 16th year, was created to identify and honour young leaders who serve as role models for the youth of Cayman. Competition opens for aspiring filmmakers
(CNS): Registration has opened for the 2016 Young Image Makers Short Film (YIM) competition. Organised by the Cayman National Cultural Foundation (CNCF), the contest offers a chance for budding filmmakers to vie for the opportunity to attend a one-week movie camp run by the New York Film Academy.
Youth Parliamentarians debate abortion and public transport
(CNS): More than 20 students from Cayman Brac and Grand Cayman participated in two debates during the ninth Youth Parliament held Monday, 14 March, to commemorate Commonwealth Day. The topics they chose to discuss were legalising abortion and the establishment of a master public-transportation system.
Suzy Soto implores students to drive safely
(CNS): Suzy Soto, the grandmother of Zak Quappe, who died in a road accident in 2013, led an interactive road safety presentation last week for more than 120 students at Cayman International School. Soto shared the experience of her family’s loss with the group, which comprised years eight to 12.
Legislative Assembly prepared for ‘takeover’

Webster given CIOC nod to cover Rio Olympics

Youth football team competing in Las Vegas tournament
(CNS): The under-16 team from the Cayman Islands Youth Football Programme will be returning to Las Vegas for the fourth time to participate in the 2016 Mayor’s Cup International Showcase this month. The team will be competing in the under-16 division with first round games against US teams starting Saturday, 13 February.
New graduates earn Passport2Success
