Governor continues tradition as patron of Cayman Heart Fund
(CNS Local Life): The Cayman Heart Fund (CHF) board of directors recently hosted a welcome lunch for the Governor Martyn Roper and his wife, Elisabeth, who are co-patrons of the organisation. CHF founder Suzy Soto explained that since the organisation was certified as a non-profit in 2007 by Stuart Jack, every subsequent governor has been its patron of honour.
“We were so pleased that HE Governor Roper and Mrs Roper are willing to continue the tradition as co-patrons of the CHF,” Soto said in a press release .
Roper said of the event, “We greatly enjoyed meeting the chairman and staff from the Cayman Heart Fund for a briefing about the excellent work that they do across the Islands. Both Lissie and I are delighted to be patrons of CHF and keen to support their work.”
In noting that cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the number one cause of death globally, chair of the CHF board David Dinner said, “Our mission is to improve the cardiovascular health of all in the Cayman Islands through education, influence and support which form the basis of our work. We are pleased to have this support and recognition from HE Governor Roper and Mrs Roper.”
Since 2007 the CHF has worked in the community to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease and helping the people of the Cayman Islands understand their risk factors, the press release said. The Cayman Heart Fund offers free community health screenings, education and training, as well as provides medical equipment and services to the public.
