Wear red for World Heart Day
(CNS Local Life): Save the date and search your wardrobe for anything red. World Heart Day is Sunday, 29 September, and the Cayman Heart Fund is asking the Cayman Islands community to raise funds for their mission and raise awareness about heart disease that weekend. For a start, they are asking people to wear red at school or at work or while exercising, take pictures and send them to CHF.
World Heart Day is a reminder that cardiovascular disease (CVD), including heart disease and stroke, is the world’s leading cause of death, claiming 17.9 million lives each year. It also highlights what people can do to prevent and control CVD, as well as risk factors such as tobacco use, unhealthy diet and physical inactivity.
Through this campaign, the World Heart Federation unites people from all countries and backgrounds in the fight against CVD, and inspires and encourages heart-healthy living across the world.
