Road closure for Cross Island Relay, 2 Feb
South Church Street will be closed between Thompson Drive and Antoinette Avenue from 6:00am to 11:00am on Sunday, 2 February, to facilitate the end point of the Cross Island Relay.
Road closures for Stand for Family Rally, 2 Feb
The Christian Association for Civics Education is hosting a “Stand for Family” rally in front of the Legislative Assembly building on Sunday, 2 February. In order to facilitate this event, Fort Street will be closed between Harbour Drive and Edward Street, from 9:00AM to 9:00PM. Albert Panton Street will also be closed during this time.
Update on government schools
The Department of Education Services’ Facilities Management Team in partnership with the Public Works Department (PWD), the Planning Department and Hazard Management Cayman Islands (HMCI) are working hard to secure all 21 government school sites which facilitate over 5,000 students and up to 800 staff.
DVDL Breakers office closure
The Department of Vehicle and Drivers’ Licensing (DVDL) says its Breakers office location will not be operational until further notice. Customers can visit the Crewe Road location in the interim.
Government offices open
Following Tuesday’s earthquake, government authorities are closely monitoring the situation. At this time government offices are anticipated to be open today (Wednesday, 29 January) unless individual departments issue a formal notification otherwise.
Water Authority – areas still without service
UPDATED: Water service has been restored along South Sound Road, from the junction of Walkers Road up to “The Avenue” development, including all adjacent roads. Red Cross shelter opening tonight
The Cayman Islands Red Cross will be opening its shelter (Huldah Avenue) at 7pm tonight to provide a safe space to the community in light of today’s earthquakes. Anyone with questions can contact the Red Cross Disaster Manager, Eddie Tinling-Miller on 326-7741.

All government schools will remain closed until a thorough assessment has been conducted on school buildings to ensure structural integrity in the wake of Tuesday’s earthquake. Following the confirmation of a strong earthquake felt in the Cayman Islands today, Tuesday, Cayman Airways is advising the public that all non-essential services have been suspended for the day.
