Birth, death and marriage Certificates during COVID-19
General Registry is helping members of the public access birth, death and marriage certificates in the face of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. General Registry, the department within the Ministry of Financial Services which oversees this area, will resume issuing hard copies of the certificates on Wednesday, 6 May. Parenting help for families in isolation
The Family Resource Centre has launched its COVID-19 parenting campaign to support self-isolating households with one or more children. The initiative, which begins its roll out today (Monday, 27 April), is being spearheaded by the Ministry of Health’s Family Resource Centre (FRC) (part of the Department of Counselling Services).
Overstayer amnesty
Given the uncertainty in coordinating air-bridge and evacuation flights, an amnesty has been implemented with immediate effect against prosecution of people for overstaying, and will remain in effect until further notice.
CIFS reminds public of bonfire safety
The Cayman Islands Fire Service (CIFS) is reminding the public how to stay safe if having a backyard bonfire, following increased reports in recent weeks. CIFS believes the increase has been driven by current measures in place to suppress the spread of COVID-19.
Liquor licensees with restaurant licence not permitted to deliver liquor with food
The Liquor Licensing Boards of the Cayman Islands advise licensees with a restaurant licence that they are not permitted to do deliveries with food. Liquor licence holders are further advised that deliveries are only permitted under certain categories of licences of the Liquor Licensing Law with approval of the Liquor Licensing Board.
Temporary waiver of T&B application fees
Government has approved the Trade and Business Licensing (Temporary Reduction in Fee) Regulations 2020, which will waive the payment of trade and business licensing application fees for businesses, effective 1 May to 31 July 2020. In addition, late fees from 1 March to 31 July 2020 will be waived for all applicants.
